1974 was an important and innovative year for Sindy. It is the year that
Sindy got her new look that was used until half way into the 80s and
Pedigree's most popular Sindy ever: Active Sindy was also put on the
market this year. The mechanism for this doll was so new that she wasn't
ready for the pictures taken for the 1974 catalogue and box. A prototype
was used in the photographs and consequently many collectors have been
searching for that non-existent doll. Lovely Lively Sindy and Funtime
Sindy got a new, slimmer look. The older models in stock were still sold
but newly dressed. The older model Lovely Lively Sindy with the gauntlet
arms was dressed the same as the new one, in Ship Ahoy or last years Fun
Flares. The last Trendy girls were sold in a Sindy Apple outfit. In 1975
The Trendygirl and Gauntlet arm Sindy were no longer pictured in the
catalogue.
The 1974 Funtime Sindy had a new head made from very hard vinyl and
is marked 033050X, she has sewn-in lashes and a lot of blusher but still the same quality fragile
hair and was made in blond only. She has a new slimmer body but is still marked
O.D. MADE IN HONG KONG and 033126X on the
shoulders and 033127X on her bottom. The limbs are from very hard vinyl but the
legs have a
wire inside and can pose. She is 27cms tall. She is sold in a box picturing last years
fatter Funtime.
Active sindy 1974
In 1974 The
first Active Sindy that was made had a double twist waist, a double neck joint,
riveted shoulder joints, ball joints at the wrists and bending elbows and
knees but no bending ankles. Her head was marked 033050X and her body
marked MADE IN HONG KONG. Saran hair was now used and this hair ages much better
then the hair used between 1968 and 1973, even played with dolls can
look like new once they are washed and styled. Sindy is 28cms tall and has
her brunette, blond or auburn hair styled in a chignon with a purple
ribbon.
In 1974
Lovely lively dolls had now lovely long saran hair. They are marked
S678 on top of their heads and 033050X below the hairline. These Lovely
Lively's have rivets in their shoulders. I think that is why they
are often called “Dutch” dolls, not because they were made in
Holland ( which they weren't) but after the antique American dolls with
pegs in their shoulders. Lovely Lively is marked MADE IN HONG KONG on her
body, has a twist waist, a head on a ball joint, jointed knees and
bendable elbows. Her hands can turn round completely. Her hair is loose in a flip, the colours are dark brunette, auburn and blond. She is
28cms tall
The 1975 Active Sindy
is the same as the 1974 Active Sindy but she can now stand on tiptoe
as her ankles bend and hold a pose.She
has a double twist waist, a double neck joint, riveted shoulder
joints, ball joints at the wrists and bending elbows and knees and
bending ankles.Her
head was marked 033050X and her body marked MADE IN HONG KONG.
Sindy is 28cms tall and has her brunette, blond or auburn hair styled
In 1975 the Funtime Sindy is almost the same as last years Funtime, only
her markings have changed for this year, she is now marked Hong Kong on
her lower back only and on her head she has the number 033055X. Her hair
is now made from shiny saran which is very easy to style and she was made in
blonde only. She is 28cms tall.
Pretty Pose Sindy 1975
In 1975 came the Pretty pose Sindy who was only sold in the UK and is rather hard to
find. She resembles the Funtime Sindy but has wire inside her arms enabling
her arms to bend and hold a pose.
In 1975 Lovely Lively
is exactly the same as the 1974 but later in the year Sindy appears with
the slightly larger, still hard vinyl, head. This mold is marked 033055X
.
Lovely Lively is marked
MADE IN HONG KONG on her body, has a twist waist, rivets in their
shoulders, a head on a ball joint, jointed knees and bendable elbows.
Her hands can turn
round completely. Her hair is loose in a flip, the colours are dark
brunette, auburn and blond. She is 28cms tall.
